I can answer training questions, both basic and advanced, and am familiar with almost all of the methods and tools used. I am not closed-minded and do not think that one method and one tool is the best/only way to train. I answer questions with consideration to both the owner`s and the dog`s needs and abilities. I am also very knowledgeable about canine nutrition.

IF YOU HAVE A HOUSETRAINING QUESTION, PLEASE go to my web page on housetraining, located at http://housetraining.angelfire.com. If you try the suggestions there, and are still having problems, let me know.

I'm happy to answer questions on behavior and training. I prefer a training philosophy much like your physician might adopt when treating patients - first, do no harm. Dogs are generally best trained using humane methods that make sense to them and put you in control, not necessarily by physical means, but by controlling the dog's access to resources, such as food, toys, access to the outdoors, etc. I want your dog to behave, but also to trust you and rely on you for guidance.Available

I can give help on any aspect of pet dog training, such as recall, loose lead walking, grooming/handling, positions (e.g 'sit'), greeting people without jumping and much more. I will not answer private questions. I can answer questions regarding a variety of topics from puppy house training and socialization, basic to advanced training as well as anxiety. I can help give guidance about fear, separation anxiety, barking or other common issues as well. Although I have a lot of experience with aggression, I will not answer questions about aggression directed towards people. Aggression needs to be addressed with a trainer working directly with your dog, and there are too many variables to be handled appropriately in this format. The reason that I can give limited aggression help is that it is a topic that often needs an expert to view the behavior and/or get a lengthy history with great detail. I think I can be most effective giving you my initial reaction to your situation, and then advise you on how to find a good trainer in your area if you do not live in Chicago. On Vacation

I can answer questions on dogs- specifically on all types of training (protection training, pet training, competition, sport), behavior issues (aggression, housebreaking, etc), problem solving, breeds and breed history, some heath/veterinary, homeopathy, natural rearing, and any questions on nutrition or supplements. I like to give honesty from my experience and knowledge, and creative solutions to problems. PLEASE NO MORE QUESTIONS ON HOUSEBREAKING- Crate train, tether, confine, set a schedule. I cannot take anymore questions on dogs pooping in the house because their owner was not crating them. Dogs can regress in housebreaking, due to stress or changes, too. Don't rely on the dog to give you signs, you set the schedule and require that the dog hold it until then.On Vacation

Alaskan Dog Mushers depend on Pack Mentality Training. We are enthusiastic adherents to this method and possibly the most experienced in applying it.

Sled Dogs perform feats of mental and social acuity that amaze even an experienced observer. My techniques were developed by training large groups of dogs to perform complex tasks while peacefully co-existing as a Team. I taught novices how to handle teams of up to sixteen animals by themselves. My various Race Official placements required I judge other dog professionals on the application of training methods.

How does this relate to you and your dog ?

I can help you speak to your dogs inner wolf and offer methods that support well-balanced lives in the human world. On certain levels all dogs think alike; my background with those close to their wild cousins provides many insights not available elsewhere.

I can help with daily routines to meet a dogs pack psychology requirements, and suggest unusual play methods to satisfy their canine cravings. I can help and advise proper ways to share kitchen foods. I can counsel regarding common stresses such as new additions, new experiences, and multiple dog households. However NO POTTY TRAINING QUESTIONS -- outside my expertise.

My advice is unusual and at times controversial. This is not a result of personal bias, but more likely due to under-reporting of our methods among the field of Dog Behaviorism. I am willing to present very advanced techniques, it is entirely up to you to decide if you are confident in using them.

While I enthusiastically believe many of you can make great strides in a forum such as this, some dogs or owners require hands-on evaluation of their situation. I advise you to seek professional and/or veterinary help if your conscience is not perfectly clear on the best way to proceed.
