| Grass roots volunteer working independent of a large well known organization or faith based group in the field of volunteer coordination, case management, and long term recovery planning.
We are in desperate need of volunteers in Mississippi. This disaster was the largest natural disaster in the United States destroying or damaging 400.000 homes. Shortfalls in response are because the Federal Government determined to privetize the response and the outcome was fractinalization of the response team without the benefit of a universal hub.
I can answer questions relative to:
Need for universal hub for all disaster teams to report to
Need for National Marketing for Volunteers
Non Profits and their responsibilities relative to disaster relief
Ethics in relief work, volunteerism, and distribution.
Need for Conflict of Interest disclosures for Non Profits and Volunteers working in the field
Defining the work of the Case Manager
The critical need for networking in relief work
Training available to relief workers
How to set up a Student Volunteer Group
The role of religion and faith based groups in relief work
How to recruit a successful skilled volunteer group
The role of local politics and how it affects relief work
Defining the Needs list for donations to relief work
Defining the difference between Response, Distribution and Recovery as related to a disaster
The role of the virtual volunteer
The advantages of working independently is that you are not confined by criteria and boundaries that bind you up in the red tape that you often find with the large established organizations. You have more flexibility to work with the client base.
