I can answer lots about ballet, specifically the Vaganova syllabus. I'm still training, but both my parents were professional dancers, so most answers will be coming from them, not me. :) They're the experts. Obviously, questions about difficult technique, etc, would be better answered with someone else, but if you're just becoming interested in dancing, or are having problems with basic steps, like pirouettes or plies, then I may be able to help

I can answer questions about ballet technique, as well as how ballet technique can be applied to other forms of dance. I would be happy to advise you regarding choosing a school, evaluating a teacher, and artistic expression in dance. I can give some advice regarding fitness for dancers and injury prevention, but please note that I do not have any medical qualifications.

I can answer questions about ballet technique, training, pointe shoes, mens training, diet, general health issues related to dance, artistry, performance, modern dance, rehabilitation from injuries, and teaching ballet. I have taught ballet, choreographed, been ballet mistress, and director, with dance companies. For any answers related to health questions will offer my experience, but will also automatically include "see a professional". |
Hi Sandra. You need to find the best teacher you can and just keep dancing. Use the internet to discover all the teachers in your area. It is possible for you to train to be a teacher, if you want that
Hi Mathilde. I cannot see you dance, but can imagine that if you are slim and flexible, it is very easy for you to "look the part" of a ballet student who has trained for longer than you have. The
Hi Lia. I don't think you should give up. The part of the class where you have to memorize combinations is the hardest for adult ballet beginners, when you have so much else to think about. However, it's
Hi Clara. I recommend that you see a chiropractor who can both examine your foot for misalignment in the big toe joints, (and then adjust as needed), and also take an x-ray if he/she deems it necessary
Hi Kelli. I'm not sure what you mean by yoga pants - loose fitting I assume. The point is whether you feel confident in your ballet technique, or do you want your teacher to see what you are doing in
