I can answer any and all questions from the perspective of a weight loss surgery patient. I have had Gastric Bypass Surgery - Roux-en-Y - and can answer questions from the perspective of one who has experienced the pain and suffering of murderous obesity. I have mustered the courage to open myself to the opportunity to live life again! Let me help you get there, too! Weight loss surgery isn't for everyone, but for those who fit some specific criteria, it is a viable option. With the rise in obesity in America, there are suddenly weight loss surgery centers springing up on every street corner, it seems. I will help anyone with general questions about roux en y gastric bypass specifically and my own personal experiences. I am specificially looking to help other Ontarians with learning about the process and qualifying for surgery through OHIP. I can answer general questions about the complications, lifestyle and requirements of roux en y surgery. I am not an expert in all forms of bariatric surgery so if you are inquiring about such things as Lapband, Duodenal Switch, I can only answer general questions about them. I'm very familiar with the four main types of bariatric surgery: Lap-Band/Adjustable Gastric Band, Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy, Roux-en-Y, and Duodenal Switch. I'm familiar with the Mini-Gastric Bypass and Revisions as well. I'm also beginning my seventh year post-op as a successful bariatric patient--so I can answer questions regarding pre-op, post-op honeymoon, and maintenance phases. I'm less familiar with the nuances of plastic surgery following bariatric surgery--but I do know a bit. | |

I am a certified life coach and specialize in weight loss surgery. As a successful RNY gastric bypass post-op since 2001, I've lost and maintained my weight loss of 147 pounds. I have worked in the bariatric field since 2002. Currently, I am the director of support groups for a weight loss surgery internet education and support company. I teach the set-up and operation of support groups, overview of the various bariatric surgical procedures, and basic bariatric nutrition. I am a certified back on track facilitator and enjoy working with post-ops finding their way to get back on track and stay on track. I have written and teach a bariatric coaching workshop and conduct weight loss surgery group teleclasses and coaching.
