Welcome back Julianna, by code you can not install a "blower " from a different unit only OEM parts, if you can not find these parts then the whole fireplace and chimney system might need to be replaced
I would recommend a roofer to come look at the chimney chase (box that the chrimney runs in on the roof) and make sure that everything is flashed off properly. Meaning that no water is coming in where
Hello Joe, it is called Negative pressure, you have changed the chimney with the different top mount damper do try building your fire/grate up on a few bricks, and maybe cracking a door or window before
It sounds like you have tried everything here and still no resolution. What the smell is I couldn't even fathom an idea. The glass should be cleaned with a Gas Fireplace Glass Cleaner and only that
I would look at the owners manual for this fireplace. If there is no knockouts to run the gas then I don't think you can install a gas logset by code. I would suggest speaking with a local fireplace store
