It sounds as if, from your description, you may have strained part of the rotator cuff. Pain can be very great from an injury to these muscles. I would suggest ice, 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off. rEpeat
Hello Natasha, You may want to have a MRI of the knee, delayed swelling can be a sign of cartilage damage to the meniscus etc. Also you will be able to see if the ligaments were torn. No x-rays
