Hi Rebecca, rather then me trying to explain the "best" way to winterize these tubers, I am going to give you a site to google, this site explains in detail what I consider the absolute best way to winterize
You just need to take a hardwood cutting, with or without fruit, (that is academic), you will not hurt the plant by taking a cutting (if thats what you are concerned about..),nor its existing fruit, but
Buzz, It is Fall now, so if you want to root a cutting, by all means go for it!...a hardwood cutting is best, and the container should be bagged and placed in a shady area, the baggy will keep in moisture
