I can answer, provide information, recommend resources or offer examples relating to the majority of hospice questions. Answers are not offered as a replacement to any recommendations made by health care professionals involved in the patients direct care. My role in this forum is to provide help to others in the form of information and education. Subjective questions will not be answered as an absolute as each situation is different. You will be reminded of this in my response. Hospice topics and questions can often times be painful and upsetting. Be sure you are prepared for an answer that my cause unpleasant emotions. A request for further information my be necessary to insure questions are answered accurately.

I can give suggestions, encouragement and direction on what hospice is and is not, when it is appropriate, and how to go about getting it. I am familiar with Medicaid and Medicare hospice benefits. I can answer general questions about disease process, what dying looks like, how hospice handles pain and other symptoms, what to expect from a hospice when end of life nears. I can provide support, direction and encouragement related to spiritual matters and psychological matters related to death and dying.

Hospice care is care for the end of life and dying patient and family. Hospice provides support with focus on quality of life issues. End of life does not mean the patient will have pain. Pain is one of several symptoms hospice will focus on for quality of life for the time reamining. Hospice takes the journey along with the patient and the family. |
