I can answer questions regarding barrel racing, pole bending, gymkhana, and also breaking in horses and any "problem" issues. I also know a lot of horse behaviour and horsemanship and reining. First thing I would do is forget the barrels with him. He feels really insecure around them at the moment. I would just stick to riding him around the yard or arena and just work on circles, leads, flexing
Sorry for the delayed response... I was not able to get on the internet for awhile.. It all depends on the size of the arena you are using and I do not know the exact measurements for the barrel pattern
