I`ve been involved in scouting (as a youth and adult volunteer) for nearly 20 years. I enjoy pioneering, camping, hiking, biking, and survival activities. Since my joining AllExperts, the Boy Scouts of America have instituted policies that are inconsistent with the traditions and ideals instilled in me in no small part by my scouting experience. During my tenure as a scout and a scouter, I felt that BSA was moving towards a co-ed program, equally available to boys and girls. Prejudice and discrimination based on race, color, belief, national origin, disability, etc were considered the greatest sins, and I felt that gender discrimination was in line to be eliminated as well. Instead, the national council reversed part if the de-facto BSA anti-discriminatory policy by specifically denying atheists and agnostics membership, based solely on their religious beliefs. Just about anything to do with scouting. I have been honored to recieve both the District Award of Merit and the Silver Beaver. I have been associated with Cub Scouting for about 16 years. I served 8 years as Cubmaster and 8 years as Committee Chairman. I was Cub Scout Roundtable Commissioner for 1 year and Cub Scout Pack Commissioner for 2 years. I have served 15 years with Boy Scouting. Three years as Assistant Scoutmaster and then formed my own troop as Scoutmaster 12 years ago. I am also working as an adult advisor for the Order of the Arrow, which is the elite campers of Boy Scouts. I have ran several major events for both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, including a Pinewood Derby, a Spring Camporee, a Fall Camporee, and 2 Klondike Derbys. In the 12 years since forming our troop I have had 22 Eagle Scouts. | |

Hi Dian, I would say that the chances are better than 90% that the Byers Avenue Methodist Church is the charter organization. Most Methodist Churches are charter organizations for Boy Scouts. What
Hi Staci, It sounds as if you are doing all of the right things, it is too bad that adults sometimes do more damage to scouting units than they do good. The one thing that you can do if all else

Hi Walt, Yes, when you recharter it only requires that you only have 1 den leader. It is recommended that you have at least 1 den leader for Cub Scouts (Wolf & Bear) and 1 Webelos leader (First and
