Expert Profile: Stephanie Rogers

Expertise:  I have lived in the central region of Louisiana my entire life. Zydecos, bayous, boucheries (slaughter of livestock for a huge cookout), the Couchon de Lait(large festival where hundreds of pigs are roasted in Mansura, LA), and crawfishing (crayfishing is not a word here) are a significant part of who I am. A strong french culture is still present in my hometown and surrounding areas. My world is nothing like the fame of New Orleans jazz festivals and Bourbon Street. I know all about quiet country life, swampland, and hard-working cajun folk.

Experience in the area
I can answer questions about some Louisiana festivals and the cajun way of life. I have a decent amount of knowledge in the history of Louisiana and some of its parishes. I cannot answer questions about New Orleans as I have only been there once and I was very small. I am also not very knowledgeable about north Louisiana. Most of my expertise is situated in the central region of Louisiana.
