if you're buyin a new mobo and you really don't want to reformat and reinstall windows then try to find a mobo with the same BIOS type as your last one. 9 times outta 10 you can avoid a reformat this way, and since there's only a handful of different widely-used BIOS's out there it's not as hard as you might think to find a good match.
