Experience in the area
I am a PhD candidate in chemical oceanography. My research focuses on organic compounds that bioaccumulate in marine mammals. This work requires extensive use and knowledge in the areas of organic extrations and chromatographic protocols, various types of gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, stable and radioisotope data collection and analysis and an understanding of marine food webs. Previous research on phospholipids and chrial solvating agents required extensive use and understanding of liquid chromatography and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometry, respectively. I also have an excellent understanding of what goes into making a radiocarbon (14C) date since I spent two years preparing samples for this type of analysis. I enjoy making science understandable, accessible and exciting for children of all ages (from my youngest cousins to my 90 year-old grandparents)!

What do you still hope to achieve/learn in this field?  My PhD! I plan/hope to go on to conduct research and teach at a university or college.
Something interesting about this subject that others may not know:  Naturally produced compounds can bioaccumulate in food webs just like organic pollutants (such as DDT and PCBs). The difference is, natural compounds have been around for a much longer length of time, and so are excellent models to help us understand the pollutants that we have only recently added to our environment.
What do you like about this subject?  Chemistry is not only how the world works, but what the world is! I like understanding my my steak gets wonderfully crisp and tasty and why the ocean is blue and salty.

Thank you but in first world war they found that a non-soap detergents is better as shampoo so they based know a day on synthetic detergents (non-soap).
