I should be most interested in questions on Yorkshire. Since I live in Yorkshire, I should not be able to contribute suggestions on accommodation and very few on restaurants. On the other hand I have walked a considerable amount in the Yorkshire Dales and the South Pennines and my job used to see me covering all parts of the county.

I have lived within reach of the Dales and the South Pennines since I was 25 and, although I have travelled a lot in Europe and hope to do so more, I do not know any area that I prefer overall.
I have often answered questions on different websites and this often necessitates learning new information. Of course if I knew in advance what new information I wanted it would destroy much of the pleasure.
I am in favour of much more control of the activities which destroy our environment - which inevitably limits the pleasures of some who participate in those activities. For instance I think there should only be restricted areas on hillsides open to motorcyclists and mountain bikers - and, to irritate a lot more people, fell runners.

Hi Connie A quick look at a map suggests that Southampton and Thamesport (London) are roughly the same distance from Gloucester. I should choose Thamesport as I suspect communications might be better
