Something controversial or provocative about this subject  See my website for a pastel painting demonstration and examples of pastel paintings.. http://jimfew.home.mchsi.com
Something interesting about this subject that others may not know:  Pastels are the most permanent of all painting media. The pigments are the same as those used in oils. "Pastels" does not mean weak or pale colors like in the cosmetic industry.
