printing and binding books. I wrote a book on this subject in 1995 (it is still in print) and am in the process of writing another. I use a scanner, Hewlett-Packard model 8100 laser printer, Xerox copier, etc to print books (and other items), and do most of the binding with adhesives (cold and hot), rather than sewing.
I enjoy meeting people and helping them to publish the things they are writing. Since I am retired, I refuse to print and bind more than fifty copies personally, though I can steer folks to other publishers who can handle any number of copies. I have published genealogies, autobiographies, poetry, travelogues, philosophy, and adventures.
I am always learning new ways of printing and binding, though I have been doing this type of work since I was fourteen (many years ago).
Some people denigrate adhesive-bound books, partly because some people call such books "Perfect" Bound. Of course, no method of binding is perfect, but ninety percent of the books published today are adhesive bound. There are good reasons why adhesive binding is so popular.

"The Type Specimen Book" published by Van Nostrand shows 544 different type faces in over 3000 sizes. Paperback. 1974. Search typefaces in Wikipedia. This has names and some data, and some reproductions
This is usually considered to be proprietary information, and hence not made public. My only suggestion is to experiment, keeping a record of the various materials you have used. Once you find a combination
I have often sought to produce pads which can easily be divided. However, we have always gone back to the old-fashioned method of inserting a colored sheet of paper (or a piece of pad back) where we want
I have bought Hammermill 11x17 long grain 20 lb bond from Quill in Chicago. Have you tried Paper Plus? Book paper is commonly sold in 24x28 size. You can cut 11x17, 8.5x11, and 5.5x8.5, long
I am sure that you know that 80 lb text weight is not the same as 80 lb bond weight. The best place to buy bond (20 lb weight) in small quantities is Quill. The best place to buy other types of paper
