Expertise

Let me help you determine the most effective place to install your smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers, and other home fire safety equipment. I can give you tips on home fire and safety inspection. So often the poor placement and care of life safety tools results in loss of life and property that could so easily be avoided. As a firefighter since 1993, I am intimately familiar with fire behavior, and steps you can take to protect yourself and your family.

Experience in the area

I have been in firefighting since 1993. I determined to become a firefighter at the age of 11, and achieved that goal. But God and my family come first.

What do you like about this subject?

I appreciate the opportunity to help anyone take steps to save their own life and protect those around them. When all else fails, we still make house calls when you dial 911, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, any weather, any time, all year long. Our specialty is turning chaos into order.

What do you still hope to achieve/learn in this field?

It is good to serve your community, doing a job that many others would never consider. Seeing the individual differences that you make when you see the faces of those you helped - no more needs to be said. It is a pure and satisfying reward.

Something interesting about this subject that others may not know:

I am still constantly amazed at the ineffective places that people place lifesaving and fire safety devices, choices that could easily cost a life. Education solves and prevents many of these problems.

Something controversial or provocative about this subject

We could talk about whether fire trucks should be red or yellow (or green or blue or black or plaid), but as long as the driver knows what they're doing, it should be a non-issue.

What you saw is all too common. After a while, for frequent and known false alarms, it takes longer for firefighters to clear the building of people than to just find and correct the problem with the

2009-10-31 alarm in apt building - have to exit always?:

I am not personally aware of any "law", per se, that requires evacuation of a building only at the sound of a fire alarm. Not asying one doesn't exist, only that I am not aware of anything like that in
