The speed bag allows for a tremendous amount of personal rhythmic expression while doing a workout. You can be jammin' to the beat while doing it. Nothing else like it in the fitness or music industry.
I am currently creating a rebound board with electronic drum triggers, so different areas of the rebounding bag can make different drum sounds as the bag strikes those areas.
The speed bag makes unique rhythmic sounds and accented beats that can be used to create improvised rhythmic "drum" solo's to your favorite music. It's like you are a second drummer with the band! see and hear a demo at: http://www.speedbagcentral.com/Demos.html
The speed bag is a great target for martial arts kicks and mixing hand- foot combinations.

Hello Evren, so Sorry to have been so long answering your question. I have been gone longer than I expected. First of all, I am more of a "speed bag specialist" and do not train boxers specifically
HI Jason, I think you could use a bag of 100-120 lbs. You don't need a super heavy bag, particularly if you will focus on punching and not kicking. You could probably start out with a lighter 80lb
You ask about adding the 4x4 along side the 2x6. Well, yes you could but if the purpose is to make the attachment point wider (4 inches) you could also just add another 2x6 and keep the lumber matched
Hi Nelson, Wow, being able to custom modify a room for adding some punching bag equipment. That's awesome. I never had that opportunity. I have NOT hung that model bag platform personally, but
Hi Austin, I am Sorry to hear about that. My best advice is to see a Doctor. It sounds like you have some type of Temporomandibular Joint Disorder http://www.medicinenet.com/temporomandibular_joint__disorder/article
