Expert Profile: Arctica

Expertise:  I can answer a broad range of questions about the history of life on Earth, from the origins of single-celled organisms to the evolutionary history of plants, invertebrates and, particularly, vertebrates. I am also experienced in debating creationists and can provide rebuttals of many common creationist arguments. I cannot, however, answer questions about archaeology, and I generally cannot answer technical questions about rocks, bone structures or fossils - I am a reader, not a digger.

Experience in the area
Many years of research into the history of life on Earth. I have no formal qualifications, but what I lack in technical expertise I make up for in range. I have spent many months debating creationists on the BBC''s science forum, and have consequently thoroughly researched a great deal of creationist and anti-creationist material.

Though the question was intended to give insight on how exactly cladistic nomenclature is conducted from the fossil record, it could've been perceived

2008-08-17  apatosaurus Hi Jennifer! I'm afraid nobody knows what colour Apatosaurus was, since skin colouration does not survive the fossilisation process. It was at least fairly abundant, however, since skeletons of this...
2008-08-16  dimetrodon The word "dinosaur" refers to a specific group of animals, which did not include Dimetrodon. Calling Dimetrodon a dinosaur would be like calling a crocodile a mammal - it just wasn't part of that group...
2008-07-11  spinosaurus vs t-rex Hi Apple! Thanks for your question. The reason you can't find the answer to this question is that there is no good answer. Tyrannosaurus rex was probably smaller than Spinosaurus, but Spinosaurus...
2008-05-09  dinosaurs Hi Zick, Thanks for your question! No, dinosaurs did not feed their babies with milk - this is something that only mammals do. Dinosaurs had a wide variety of diets, both carnivorous and herbivorous...
2008-04-03  Foraminifera Hi Hugh! Thanks for your interesting question - I don't often get asked about invertebrate fossils (which is just as well, since I know next to nothing about them). After a little research, however,...
