Expertise:   *** GENERAL CAT QUESTIONS *** I help cat owners with the general day-to-day problems and questions that they have about their cats. And I try to help owners have a better understanding of their cats and the cat's behavior. Note: I am not a veterinarian. I also do not answer questions about breeding and/or showing pedigree cats. My cats have usually been mixed breeds with questionable parentage. I am currently 'owned' by 13 cats (all spayed or neutered). My favorite cats are calicos (good hunters with attitudes) and handicapped cats/kittens (because they have so much heart).
Since childhood I have cared for, raised, and loved many, many cats. I have been a care-giver to assorted types and personalities of cats and kittens with all sorts of behaviors and attitudes. I have also dealt with the joys, heartbreaks, and frustrations that come from being an animal owner.

Something controversial or provocative about this subject  I do not agree with de-clawing. It is a VERY painful unnecessary surgery with an agonising recovery. There are humane ways of solving the claws and scratching problem without chopping off the cat's toes. I don't agree with having a pet that is not spayed/neutered. You have better pets, a pet that stays home, less health problems and injuries from fighting, less unwanted/unloved kittens, etc.
What do you still hope to achieve/learn in this field?  With cats you never stop learning about them.
Something interesting about this subject that others may not know:  You will find that there is no 'normal behavior' when it comes to cats. You never know what to expect from them. Sometimes only a cat knows for sure why he does something.
What do you like about this subject?  Helping people have happy cats and helping cats have happy owners.
