I am a consumer oriented licensed funeral director and embalmer, having assisted thousands of families over the past 30 years. In general, when the folks who purchased cemetery lots die, the control to those lots passes to the next of kin. In your example, the rights would go equally to all of your step-grandfather's children
You didn't say, but I'm assuming that your boy friend's father is at a funeral home. If that is the case, you should check with them directly. Some funeral homes have rental caskets, and some have cremation
Hello Laura: Yes, you can do everything you asked about. Most cemeteries will allow two urns to be buried in the same grave, however there may be some larger commercial cemeteries, or government run Veterans
I have seen many burials that needed to be that shallow because of soil condition, and know of no problems. Personally, I like the idea of the single marker covering the urn vault. If you buy a surface
Most state statutes specify required grave depths, relating to how deep it is from ground surface to the burial vault, for casketed remains. If the vault you are referencing contains a casket, ten inches
