Expert Profile: Joost Boekhoven

Expertise:  I have been doing yoga and meditation for more than fourteen years. Like most people, I am doing this to find peace of mind, and to get to the depths of my being. On the way, I am discovering my connection with the universe and God. Spirituality brings out the best in yourself, but in the beginning also the worst... There are a lot of obstacles on the way to peace of mind. Most people stop when they encounter the first difficulties with meditation and never get to know their full potential. I have gone through a lot of such difficulties; and I found it worth the effort! Now I want to help others who go through the same problems, or who have questions about meditation and spirituality in general.
If you measure and display your accomplishments in spirituality, you haven't accomplished anything spiritual yet.

What do you like about this subject?  -- Yoga and meditation make me feel peaceful. -- Meditation is something I can do at almost any place, any time. -- My computer can be stolen, I can lose my ability to walk or see, but no one can take away my ability to meditate and see the world in a spiritual way. -- Spirituality shows me that everything happens with a positive reason.
What do you still hope to achieve/learn in this field?  The more I meditate, the more I discover how little I know in this field - or any field. But the more I meditate, the more I have peace with how I am, and I accept that I grow at the pace at which I grow.
Something interesting about this subject that others may not know:  Yoga and meditation (spirituality) is not something strange from far away eastern countries. It is something from yourself. It is a way to take care of your health and a way to find all the qualities that you have in yourself.
Something controversial or provocative about this subject  Spirituality is not a religion. Spirituality is free from dogmas. In some religions they tell you what to believe about Life, the Universe and Everything; in spirituality you find tools to help *you* decide what is the cause and meaning of Life.
