Hello. I have volunteered here to help you with questions regarding Depression. Though I am able to answer questions related to other psychological disorders such as anxiety, substance abuse, Schizophrenia, etc. I intend to focus on the questions which are about how to deal with depression. Even if the depression is part of some other disorder, you can ask me about that. You can also ask me questions related to Psychotherapy for depression. I apply the principles of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy in my own life, and also help my clients/patients with those. I believe in providing my clients/patients with the best possible and evidence based advice. The same applies to the online answers here, too.
I have been working as a Psychiatrist since more than 7 years now, in addition to my residency training. Over the years, I have worked with a number of institutions. Depression is quite common in general population. Having done focussed work on Clinical research trials in Psychiatry, I am aware of the Good Clinical Practices guidelines, and the importance of evidence in management decisions. In addition to being a Psychiatrist, I am also a certified Psychotherapist (Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy). Psychotherapy is the main practice I use these days.

The most important thing I appreciate about Depression is that it gives us a chance to explore the inner core beliefs. Except a few conditions where depression is purely a result of chemical imbalance, most others situations offer a great deal of information for us to work upon. These deep explorations often result in newer ways of thinking and better coping skills.
