I love the adrenalin rush that comes when I'm drawing party caricatures "live" My skills are constantly being tested! I have just 3-5 minutes to capture the "essence" of a person, and if I'm wrong, boy do they let me know it!!
My goals are constantly changing. At this point in time my goal is draw much faster and more accurately.
Cartooning and Caricature are highly individualized. An artist's style is a reflection of their temprament, mood, level of training and experience, and their willingness to do a lot of on the job training.
Most people have the misconception that caricatures "have" to be an insulting and unflattering representation of the subject. An artist's individual style and personality dictates what he or she chooses to emphasize. The most important thing is to achieve a likeness of the person you are drawing.
