Travelling by bicycle across the northern USA, down the California coast or around in the Pacific Northwest. Find out what to expect, where to camp, what to see, where some good routes can be found. Learn about the geography, climate, road conditions and highlights along the way.
Crossing USA twice by bicycle and returning by train. Total trip time took about 2 1/2 months. Also been down the California coast and around in the Pacific Northwest. I maintain a website with my photos and stories. http://www.theslowlane.com/
Seeing more of America than the "in flight movie." Bicycling is a great way to avoid the rat race, especially if one can find the good bike paths.
This coming summer I hope to bike in southern Oregon and Northern California.
Possibly the hardest part, for most people, is being able to take the time away from day to day obligations. A good way to prepare for a long trip is to take many shorter trips and see how you like it.
Some cyclists are quite assertive and try to confront the traffic. I try to stay out of people's way and have a more relaxing time. If I was really in a hurry, I would book a flight.

Good to hear from you. I forgot to answer until now as I am not always that organized. I don't know that much about training as I don't do anything different than my normal life to stay in shape
A doctor would be better at answering this question. Answers may vary from different doctors, but they would know the circumstances better. There are quite a few choices such as riding a stationary
Sorry, I forgot to answer your question. I was just on a trip myself. On the west coast, the summer wind is strong out of the northwest. It's easier to bike from Portland to San Francisco, rather
I don't know a lot about this except I just use the method of trial and error. What rides comfortably seems to work for me. Many bike shops have techniques for fitting people to the bike. Some even
I am not from that area so I don't know a lot about it. When I biked through that area, I found a bicycle map of the north bay area. It covered parts of Sonoma and all of Marin Counties. I am sure there
