I specialize in SYRIAN HAMSTERS ONLY like black bears, goldens, teddies, and more. I'm an experienced breeder and raised hamsters for the past 10 years. I can help with how to buy your first, how to house and care for your hamster, nutrition, showing, and other general questions. I can help with most behavioral problems too. I am the longest running hamster expert on this page, since 2001.

It's always good to do your research before buying a pet so I applaud your efforts. Panda bear is just another name for a Syrian hamster that happens to have black and white coloring. Same for black

The additional height isn't too bad because the tank itself has more volume. Ventilation is only really an issue the more narrow and high it is. I don't forsee it being an issue at all as long as the tank's

The high may present some ventilation issues which is why I don't recommend it. The long gives you more workable space for the hamster to play in. If you can I'd suggest exchanging it for a long.
