Decor: I've written about it, planned it, designed it and colored it, and I've never stopped loving it. It's not what you spend, or who made it, it's how it makes you feel. I take pride in assisting people with virtually every aspect of making their homes more comfortable and livable on a budget! As an advisor and decorator, I have assisted many do-it-yourselfers in the quest for developing their own unique home style.
College, advertising, public relations, marketing, free-lance writing and a plethora of creative endeavors have led me here. A stint at a law firm taught me humility too, but I really never scratched the creative itch until I became an Interior Decorator. Some three thousand questions ago, I wondered if I could really help. I think now that I am, and it feels great to give something back.
Decorating should reflect your personality and that's exciting. People take great pleasure and pride in decorating their spaces. I've met awesome people via this site, and many now have touches of "me" in their homes. That feels good.
My goals change every day. The one constant thing for me is that there is something to be learned from every experience, every encounter, and that if you're not living "in the moment" you will miss a lot of your life.
The number one thing that people forget or don't realize is that decorating is a "can do" thing for just about anyone. It's a style, a feel, a mood, a lot of favorite things and it's all about color.
White walls. Think they're safe? Either we've all got them, we've all had them, or we will have them, and unless those white walls are intentionally white by design, they need to have color added to them. (We don't live in an all-white world...look up...look around you...would you want to WEAR white every day?)

Hannah, Check these out at www.homedepot.com. They're made of hard plastic and come in either white or "wood tone" brown (looks like golden oak). These can hang from 3 cup hooks. You have to measure
Meredith, Bless your heart for sharing your dilemma. Let's start with your furnishings. If the couch can't be recovered easily, check out slipcovers at www.surefit.com (they've come a long way in
Painting the interior of the glass front cabinets will add visual depth. If you're keeping the walls pale yellow, using blue for the cabinets would be a good choice. Since you appear to be happy
The logical accent wall would be "either" the stairway wall (which means that 2 stories of wall would be an accented color, or the wall that features the door to the patio. Using a darker color, my choice
Hi Elizabeth, Center the mirrors under your light fixtures as you have done with the current ones. Since you say you need to keep the lights, consider one large oval mirror. (Without knowing the distance
