Decor: I've written about it, planned it, designed it and colored it, and I've never stopped loving it. It's not what you spend, or who made it, it's how it makes you feel. I take pride in assisting people with virtually every aspect of making their homes more comfortable and livable on a budget! As an advisor and decorator, I have assisted many do-it-yourselfers in the quest for developing their own unique home style.
College, advertising, public relations, marketing, free-lance writing and a plethora of creative endeavors have led me here. A stint at a law firm taught me humility too, but I really never scratched the creative itch until I became an Interior Decorator. Some three thousand questions ago, I wondered if I could really help. I think now that I am, and it feels great to give something back.
Decorating should reflect your personality and that's exciting. People take great pleasure and pride in decorating their spaces. I've met awesome people via this site, and many now have touches of "me" in their homes. That feels good.
My goals change every day. The one constant thing for me is that there is something to be learned from every experience, every encounter, and that if you're not living "in the moment" you will miss a lot of your life.
The number one thing that people forget or don't realize is that decorating is a "can do" thing for just about anyone. It's a style, a feel, a mood, a lot of favorite things and it's all about color.
White walls. Think they're safe? Either we've all got them, we've all had them, or we will have them, and unless those white walls are intentionally white by design, they need to have color added to them. (We don't live in an all-white world...look up...look around you...would you want to WEAR white every day?)

Hi Andrea, My best suggestion is to keep the carpeting neutral in color. You may consider an off-white or beige/camel brown Berber with flecks of woven color which would coordinate well with any furniture
Hi Nicole, Thanks for your question. Your color combinations are best accented by a warm neutral wall color. I'd opt for a grey tone or a taupe. To get the best of both, consider Glidden's Toasty
Hi Ginger, If you can afford it, opt for wood cabinets that are painted white by the manufacturer. Wood cabinets will outlast all the others. Laminate cabinets will not hold up as well. Laminate
Hi Lisa, Consider a chocolate brown drapery, and if privacy is an issue, add sheer panels over the window(s) as well. If you'd prefer a mix of color tones, look for a drapery that incorporates
Hi Lori, Since the floorplan is an open concept plan all the walls should be painted the same. Based on what you've told me, your daughter could use a cocoa brown, a medium to dark shade of tan, or
