An alcoholic must be held accountable for their actions. However, alcoholism is a disease and alcoholics are not bad people, they are sick people who do bad things. They do bad things because they are addicted, and their addiction is controlling their lives. There is a way to recover, but recovery requires courage and a willingness to change their lives.
