What do you like about this subject?

Translate my learning experiences into useful information for others to learn by.

What do you still hope to achieve/learn in this field?

Next step is offering hands on class in my studio that exposes students to dozens of video, camera, lighting, and sound equipment and the strategies for using them.

Something interesting about this subject that others may not know:

Videotape is being phased out, yet there is no true archival replacement format for videotape, DVD is not it, that's for sure. Film actually lasts the longest at this point in time. Solid State technology may eventually be the archival winner.

Something controversial or provocative about this subject

I don't want to see the day when film is no longer made at all and everyone "creates' via the computer and only via the "latest and greatest" software. I don't like the idea that basic creative tools can be pulled away from the user at any moment by software obsolescence or "upgrades". Apple introduces Snow Leopard and my Canon Powershot camera will not upload.

Hi Tongai Paul Tafira, A very good way to learn how to learn, is to make an "electronic brochure" of your story. As you build your electronic brochure of images and explanations you will see it start

2010-01-16 VIDEO RESOLUTION:

I really don't know. However, the best way is always going to be to do a test. Ask the theater how you can give them the video and simply observe the result, preferably at the end of the night or before

2009-12-18 good affordable camera n editing software:

It is difficult to give a good short answer to this question because your question possibly raises more questions. If you can find a video camera that has XLR audio inputs and manual control over focus

2009-12-12 videos of basketball and lacrosse:

This is a tough time (2009) to purchase video equipment because many editing systems are not able to keep up with the latest in HD camera technology. It is possible to be "lured" by a lower cast camera
