I can answer questions about general living, working, visiting, and traveling in Taiwan. Especially Taipei city, I have lived and worked in Taiwan for the past several years. I can't read much Chinese, but I speak well enough to get by. I'm not an expert on postal codes and services, please check this site or contact the Taiwanese postal service via this site to find the postal codes you might be seeking. http://www.post.gov.tw/post/internet/u_english/postal_e.jsp
I speak enough Chinese to get by, but by no means am I fluent, so I am aware of both sides of the language coin. I live and work in Taipei city, and have travelled around in the past to places like Hualien, Toroko, Tai Dong, Green Island, Ken ting, Kao Shiung, Tai Nan, Sun Moon lake and Tai Jung. Plus locations all over the northern tip of the island. At one point or another I have been into the clubbing, beaching and outdoor scenes alternately over the past few years, so I have a fairly eclectic knowledge base. Ask away, I can't guarantee I'll know the answer but I'll do my best to help you out :D. Magda

In one day? no it's not, there is a pass between Hualien and Taichung but it's been closed for years and years, they always talk about clearing it out but as far as I know they have never done anything
Seems a little cramped but if traffic etc co-operates it could be doable. As for you questions, I am not a fan of tours as I said... so honestly I know nothing about it. I'd suggest you google some
Well, I don't recommend tours, but that's just my person issue, I don't enjoy organized tours (though they do make things easy for you) but honestly it's not that difficult to get English service and help
Yea the high speed rail doesn't go that way :). I don't know what time the trains run until but I think the last trains generally leave around 1130pm or 1 am (depending on the route). Taiwan is very
As far as I know other countries don't care much about it... but if she's really worried about it then go somewhere nearby for a few weeks, say she's 'lost' her passport and get a new one. the issue
