I can answer travel questions about Cappadocia and Ankara. I can also answer questions about living in Turkey as a foreigner.

Experience in the area

I have lived in Turkey since 2007. In summer 2011 we moved to Cappadocia and as of September 2011 I have been writing for www.captivatingcappadocia.com I have visited many sites and have many friends in Cappadocia. Also, as part of my work I am reading every book I can find on the region and people.

Education/Credentials

B.A. Economics from Washington & Lee University (Lexington, VA, USA) MBA from Bilkent University (Ankara, Turkey)

What do you like about this subject?

I live in Cappadocia (lived in Ankara for 4 years) and love it. I have seen the sites and go exploring regularly. I have friends in all the towns. They have time, and I get to hang out and drink tea for hours on end. People here are friendly and relational. The land is gorgeous. What is there not to love.

What do you still hope to achieve/learn in this field?

I want to improve my Turkish. I work on it daily.

Something interesting about this subject that others may not know:

Paying for things in Euro or US Dollars is not a good idea. You will get ripped off every time.

Something controversial or provocative about this subject

There are villages that have been relocated because too many people have cancer. They think it may be from a mineral in the soil of those villages. It is not everywhere, but seems to be a bigger problem than has been covered.
