It depends.  This touches upon both copyright and trademark matters.  From a copyright perspective, you would need to find out whether the rights to use the likeness / a story about Sherlock Holmes is

On the facts provided I would opine most likely not, you cannot continue to use the logo.  In short, a trademark, be it a word, slogan, logo, etc., is acquired through use.  Whoever begins use of the trademark
