What do you like about this subject?  I am passionate about the impact the Grand Canyon has on people who visit. As a possibilities coach, I help people expand their appreciation for who they are
What do you still hope to achieve/learn in this field?  To be "The Grand Canyon Guy", and continue to learn more about human potential. Also to use the beauty and power of the Canyon to make people around the world more aware of our need to preserve our natural treasures.
Something interesting about this subject that others may not know:  Studies have shown that rafting on the Colorado River through Grand Canyon is more dangerous than bowling and less dangerous than golf (injury rates). The Grand Canyon is no more than 50 million years old, and perhaps only 6 million. The oldest rocks are 1.7 billion years old.
Something controversial or provocative about this subject  The Glen Canyon dam was built to save Lake Mead from filling up with silt. It is the only major US dam built into sandstone, which acts like a sponge. It could eventually fail from the pressure of the water, or sand waves slamming up against it. Some people, even PhD geologists, who interpret the bible strictly, place the geology of the Canyon in a 6000 - 9000 year time frame.

2004-07-11  White Water Rafting Hi Nan Sorry for the delay. I've just come off a fifteen day Canyon raft trip. You have only one option from Vegas for any whitewater trips in the Canyon, and that would be with the Hualapai tribe's...
2002-07-31  Getting to the G. C. Hello Jim It's about 250 miles from Phoenix to Grand Canyon and 276 from Las Vegas. Probably a little faster from Phoenix, but not significantly. It's a better drive from Phoenix, especially if you...
