I hold a 5th degree black belt in aikido and co-chief instructor at an aikido dojo in upstate New York. I have written a book on the application of aikido`s mind/body state of centering in everyday life. I would be happy to share my understanding of aikido in response to questions on the martial art of aikido.
I have taught aikido for over 20 years and worked with its mind/body principles off the mat for 23. I am also a certified qi gong therapist.
MS, Economics, ASU 5th degree black belt, aikido, Aikido Kokikai International
Aikido has been a part of my life for two decades. It has helped me to become a better person. I have learned calmness, the ability to blend and harmonize in conflict situations, and it has helped me to stay in acceptable physical shape.
I hope to continue to grow in my ability to achieve mind/body/spirit coordination.
Aikido directly applies to non-physical confrontations off the mat.
Aikido is a great reflection of life. Human frailties jump out at you on the mat. Practicing this art requires you to accept that we are all imperfect, and to love each other (and ourselves) despite that.
