I will answer questions concerning exercise, nutrition, health and diseases related to obesity or sedentary lifestyle. I can also answer questions about being an aerobics/group exercise leader or questions about getting certified with AFAA.
Receiving my Masters of Science in Clinical Exercise Physiology, I have been Fitness Director on board Royal Caribbean luxury cruise ships, I have given training seminars for aspiring group exercise leaders; I am certified and I work for Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA). I was Senior Exercise Physiologist and lecturer at the Internationally renowned Pritikin Longevity Center and Spa at Turnberry Island Resort in Miami, Florida for almost 10 years and I was also the Fitness Assessment Coordinator at the exclusive Fisher Island Spa Internazionale on exclusive Fisher Island in Miami Beach (famous residents of the island include Oprah Winfrey, Andre Agassi, and Sharon Gless). I've competed in AAU and NAC Aerobics competitions. Currently, I am the Adminstrative Manager for a Municipal Parks and Recreation Department and own a Fitness/Lifestyle planning business. I have been in the Fitness industry for over seventeen years and here on AllExperts since 1999.
I personally was overweight. I appreciated the fitness/medical professionals and friends who helped me realize fitness is a lifetime endeavor. I hope to offer constructive information and encouragement to help you to pay closer attention to your body, helping to prevent and/or reduce the weight gain that happens to many of us. I love what I do!
There is so much contradicting, confusing exercise/fitness research for the general person to clearly understand. I regularly attend conferences/classes and read scientific journals to get my information FIRST HAND (Muscle/Fitness type magazines often contain someone's INTERPRETATION of scientific journal research articles.
There is no such thing as "upper" and "lower" abs. Barbie and Ken dolls have upper and lower abs...that's why they can rotate 360 degrees at the waist!
I don't believe in weight loss fads, high protein diets, or those very low calorie meal plans with special expensive foods to buy. Fitness "experts" who endorse questionable exercise gadgets or phony/dangerous supplements are the WORST, especially for those "victims" who really need qualified, professional guidance and individual attention in their fitness/weight loss/healthy lifestyle goals

Hi Kristi! Congratulations on your pursuit of AFAA certification. Your best bet is to focus on your study guide. The test is written and practical. Make sure you fill out your study guide before you
The music will be provided by the certification specialist, barring any technical difficulties (a month ago I had to bring a sound system with me because the host center surprisingly did not have one)
Hi Annabel. I apologize you did not get my answer. Here is an article that very closely reflects what I have found in my years of experience as an exercise professional. http://www.naturalnews.com/006981
Hi Jesselyn! Congratulations on your interest of AFAA certification. Your best bet is to focus on your study guide. The test is written and practical. Make sure you fill out your study guide before
