I am a long time fan of Bluegrass and older country/folk music (20-70's) and have a fairly extensive tape and sheet music library of the same and have played the music non-professionally for many years. I can (hopefully) assist with information about artists and lyrics. Please try to make it the older stuff, I don't listen to much "modern" country except George Strait anymore....it ain't got no soul anymore :)
I grew up in the 60's listening to all the old greats and learned to play the music. I have spent a lot of time reading about the genres and have gotten a chance to meet several of the big names over the years.
For Self help: often most questions can be answered with a simple search engine input. Try going to www.google.com, www.ask.com, www.yahoo.com or your favorite engine and enter the following lyrics +whatever you can remember then search often you'll come up with what you need. Sometimes use "song" instead of lyrics.
I don't remember her doing this song...of course Billie Jo Spears had the big hit with it. Lyric searches credit her with it. Here is a link to her albums...you might be able to find it on one of these
Here is a possible http://www.stlyrics.com/lyrics/ashestoashesseries3/warbaby.htm This one probably isn't it but you never know..Mick Jagger http://www.lyricsfreak.com/m/mick+jagger/war+baby_20346265
I can't find any listing of a female artist covering this song. I'm sure it's possible there is one out there but I don't have the computer power to search every discography to find it. None my my search
"She's My Coochie Coo" by Mona Johnson ('52) is the only reference I can find as to a recording I found a copy of the words dating back to 1907 at a German site it's on page 221...scroll down the screen
That seems to be the thought behind every good country song from 1929 to 1980. I just cannot pinpoint that particular verse. I ran it thorough my lyrics search engines too and came up with nothing..
