Something controversial or provocative about this subject  Glass tempering is a vital step in making safe glass. There's a trend in the glass tempering industry to be lazy & sloppy allowing fabricating debris to be baked in the surface of the glass. This defect is passed on to the consumer who has no idea it's there until the glass is scratched during a normal window cleaning. The innocent, unassuming, & sometimes ignorant window cleaner is often blamed.
What do you still hope to achieve/learn in this field?  I'm interested in starting a cleaning mentor program.
Something interesting about this subject that others may not know:  Today's tempered glass unfortunately often comes with fabricating debris know as glass fines. This is a HUGE problem that leads to scratched glass. For more information, see this link: http://www.scratched-glass.net/
What do you like about this subject?  It's always satisfying to enter a cleaning project that looks overwhelmingly impossible to resolve and walk away from it looking fabulous!

2008-11-02  paint chalk on windows Ann, Believe it or not glass is very porous. Because of this it can really "grab" and hold on to stains. You probably need to use a mild abrasive like grade 3 or 4 steel wool. Look for steel wool...
