Expertise

I can answer questions regarding lead, copper foil, reinforcement, repair, soldering, patina, panel lamps, kaleidoscopes, boxes, water prisms, and designing. I have limited experience with bead making, but could answer basic questions. Visit my web site at http://www.freepatternsforstainedglass.com

Experience in the area

I have been working with and teaching stained glass for 34 years. For many years my husband and I owned a large stained glass studio, doing custom work, repairs and restorations, as well as selling supplies and teaching classes. We now run our business from home doing repair and restoration work. My web site keeps me busy, adding new material, and answering questions via my "Ask Sue For Help" page and through email.

Education/Credentials

My years of experience are my only credentials. I have taken many classes in different areas of stained glass work, over the years, most of them from well know stained glass artists.

2010-02-02 soldering:

Hi Peggy, If the foil is not sticking, there's no way to fix it other than to remove the foil, clean the edges of the glass, then re-apply new foil. I have found that wiping the edges of the glass

2010-01-27 soldering irons:

Hi, I highly recommend the Weller W100PG soldering iron. The temperature is controlled by the tip, not a temp controller. You can buy tips that will give you 60, 70 or 80 watts, which makes it quite

Hi Bob, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but there is no gold patina. The closest you'll come is copper. You can have it gold plated. You'd need to find someone to plate it by looking on the Internet, or

2010-01-13 Slag Glass Shade Soldering Repair:

Hi Michael, You will need a 100 watt or 150 watt soldering iron and Nokorode flux. A 150 watt iron will do the job more efficiently, but the 100 watt will work...it will just take more time and patience
