I can answer questions regarding lead, copper foil, reinforcement, repair, soldering, patina, panel lamps, kaleidoscopes, boxes, water prisms, and designing. I have limited experience with bead making, but could answer basic questions. Visit my web site at http://www.freepatternsforstainedglass.com
I have been working with and teaching stained glass for 34 years. For many years my husband and I owned a large stained glass studio, doing custom work, repairs and restorations, as well as selling supplies and teaching classes. We now run our business from home doing repair and restoration work. My web site keeps me busy, adding new material, and answering questions via my "Ask Sue For Help" page and through email.
My years of experience are my only credentials. I have taken many classes in different areas of stained glass work, over the years, most of them from well know stained glass artists.

Hi Ruth, You need to use copper or brass for it to form a solid solder joint. There's a tutorial on this page http://www.freepatternsforstainedglass.com/finish-the-edges.html about making jump rings/hanging
Hi Lori, Yes, you can construct your window using copper foil. To insure strength, use copper restrip anywhere there is a hinge joint or even a hint of a hinge joint. Make sure the strips go from one
Hi, I'd say $1500 to $2000 would be a fair price to ask for the window. However, it could go for more or less depending on it's age and condition. From the picture, it looks like it's in good condition
This is part of an article I wrote for Ezine Articles. It explains the technique for using copper restrip: To prevent bowing and sagging over the years, windows that exceed 4 square feet in total dimension
Yes, it would be perfectly okay to mix lead and zinc. However, why don't you use all lead? It will be just as strong, easier to use and the border will all look the same. I don't know if you plan on
