Expert Profile: Jim Garber

Expertise:  I can answer most questions on fretted instruments, my main area of expertise is in vintage mandolins, guitars and ukuleles. I also know some things about old banjos as well. PLEASE NOTE: I do not profess to any expertise in other instruments -- that includes antique keyboards, woodwinds, brass and percussion. What do you like about this subject?  I have been playing fretted instruments for over 40 years in various types of music. Lately I have been very interested in Europeans fretted instruments especially mandolins.
What do you still hope to achieve/learn in this field?  I am learning more and more each day. I have been accumulating knowledge from printed sources, Web sites and from other experts.
