They should but they don't have to. Unfortunately it is not recommended for older bitches. If she were 2 or 3, a back to back litter might be OK, but the older the bitch the more can go wrong. I wouldn't

Only you can tell if your dog is ready...if she has lost her normal quality of life and doesn't have that spark anymore, it might be time. You may want to check with the vet to see if there is any medication
