Expert Profile: Kevin McClave

Expertise:  I have been a Reds fan since 1977 (yes, that would be a year or two too late a start). You would not have to necessarily limit your questions to that timeframe, though. While I tend to look at the stats quite a bit, I also can look beyond them. I have a very good memory, as well, which also comes in handy.

Experience in the area
Fan for 25 years. Former sports broadcaster.

Education/Credentials
BA in Sociology, LeMoyne College
AAS in radio and television from Onondaga Community College

Something interesting about this subject that others may not know:  I was at the game, on September 11, 1985, when Pete Rose broke the all-time major league record for hits. The Reds starting pitcher in that game, Tom Browning, attended the same college (Le Moyne) as I did.

Thanks! I thought he was talking too much and in my line of work, I'm always a little suspicious when that happens, anyway! Thanks, again!

2007-04-04  Marge Schott Hi Carla, The Reds didn't actually make an exception for him, but Greg Vaugfhn in 1999 was the catalyst for the end of the facial hair ban. Vaughn wanted to keep his mustache and beard after being acquired...
2007-01-12  Sparky Anderson Hi Steven, My recollection is the same as yours, that the Reds were not allowed to wear anything but black shoes when Sparky was manager. It didn't last as long as that facial hair ban, though. I...
2006-12-06  Dating an autographed team ball Greg, The ball seems to be pretty clearly signed by the 1974 Reds. See the info below and you'll see that some of the guys who signed only played together for the Reds during that season. Not a bad...
2002-03-26  Red Seat Homers Hi, First of all, sorry for the delay in responding. I don't currently have at my disposal the red seat homers, if any, hit by Reds in 2001. Here are the red seaters by Cincinatti players through...
