Expert Profile: Bettye Zoller

Expertise:  For over 25 years, I`ve announced hundreds of TV radio commercials, narrated hundreds of videos/films for cable TV, museum tours, corporate and educational uses. I am one of the most well known voiceover coaches in the U.S. and have trained and counseled careers of voiceover talents now heard worldwide. Students travel from all over the world for my expert advice and training in announcing-narrating. I am a recording studio owner and audio engineer in Dallas Texas. I produce commercials there along with audiobook projects and voiceover demos. Much misinformation is "out there" about becoming a voiceover talent. The ability to voice projects is a wonderful way to augment one`s income at all ages and stages of life. This field knows no age! People can voice projects anywhere on earth if there is a recording studio there! And today, we simply send voiceover work as an MP3 file attached to an email, thus permitting us to work for clients worldwide! We live in a "talking world." Toys, greeting cards, telephones--everything talks--that`s what we voiceover talents do and it`s a wonderful field. I am degreed with two masters and a ph.d (minus dissertation) and have taught college courses many times. I am a Simon and Schuster non-fiction audiobook author (Speaking Effective English - WomanSpeak - CommercialSpeak and other titles).

Past/Present clients
My former students announce commercials, narrate projects worldwide. Some students have jobs on radio/TV stations/channels in many U.S. cities.

What do you still hope to achieve/learn in this field?  Voiceovers know no age. That is why every day is an adventure. The phone can ring and your next voiceover job is booked. It is so exciting. My goal is to get some of my biggest and most lucrative jobs monetarily in the years to come.
Something interesting about this subject that others may not know:  Women are getting many more voiceover jobs now, in commercials, narrating films and videos, as the voices of cartoons, audiobooks, toys. When I first began in this biz, men did much more voice work than females. That is changing every year for the better.
Something controversial or provocative about this subject  Because the US population as a while is aging, people over fifty are getting more and more voiceover work in all areas of the business.
What do you like about this subject?  Being a voiceover talent and voiceover coach is the most fun and most rewarding career imaginable. I encourage everyone who speaks well and who likes being an entrepreneur to get into this field either part- or full-time.
