Expertise: I am a specialist in the field of international education with emphasis on regional and national evaluation. I am able to answer questions relating to the background, research fields, teaching areas, subjects and faculty of various universities throughout the world. I am particularly interested in European, Asian and South African universities.
Experience in the area I attended Northwest Mississippi Community College from 1968-70. I then attended the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) from 1970-72 earning a B.A.E. The University of Mississippi is ranked 8th nationally for its production of Rhodes Scholars and has produced numerous Truman and Goldwater scholars since 1998. While an undergraduate and graduate student, I received the Academic Achievement Scholarship Award and membership in the honor societies (history & education) of Phi Theta Kappa, Phi Delta Kappa, Kappa Delta Pi and Phi Alpha Theta (University of Florida). Courses included: 36 semester hours, history; 36 semester hours, psychology and political science; and 54 semester hours, math, science and others.
I continued my studies at the University and earned my M.Ed. in 1977 in history and education (27 graduate hours in history and 15 hours in education and methodology). During this time I was an E.D.P.A. Fellow (United States government fellowship) and became an Honors Fellow of the Robert A. Taft Institute of Government (Queens College). Later I received my S.Ed. degree (Advanced Masters) from Ole Miss which consisted of 30 graduate semester hours in research methodology and field study.
In 1989 I entered the College of Preceptors in London, England. The postgraduate teaching Fellowship (FCP - presently known as FCoT) of the Royal Chartered College of Preceptors was awarded in 1993 based on a thesis of 30,000 words which embodied the "results of original and experimental work in education". I was also asked to attend an oral examination. "Candidates must have had at least 5 years' experience in educational work or teaching, be graduates or Licentiates of the College and hold a diploma or certificate in education or have other qualifications acceptable to the College." This research thesis was supervised by Dr Kenneth Bender, EdD of the University of Mississippi (Oxford) and examined externally in London. ?Under the terms of its Royal Charter of 1849 granted by Queen Victoria [and again in 1998 by Queen Elizabeth II] the College is empowered to provide professional qualifications for teachers in the UK and overseas." The school is now called the British College of Teachers.
Finally, I hold a D.Ed. from the University of South Africa (UNISA) in Pretoria. Lindgren's dissertation committee consisted of a three (3) member panel from UNISA - led by Prof. van Zyl and the University of Mississippi, and two (2) external scholars.
