I know many people believe this, and I suppose it is correct. As the dollar collapses large US companies that have a large part of their business outside the USA will do better, at least in dollar terms

Well there are a number of ways. Many people just buy gold and silver as the ultimate "foreign" currency. You can just go buy foreign currency and keep it in a safe place. Or you can open a bank account
I really question this issue of speculators causing everything. Speculators can drive the price up and down in the short term, but really what they do is speed up whatever is happening. We are in a recession
