What do you like about this subject?

I love everything about mortgages. I enjoy the puzzle of putting a deal together, finding a way to make a complicated scenario work, getting my clients the very best rate, helping to make buying a first home a simple, non-terrifying experience.

What do you still hope to achieve/learn in this field?

There are new products all the time, and policies change constantly. I'm always learning!

Something interesting about this subject that others may not know:

This is, of course, specific to Canada... There are many different lenders, each with slightly different policies and products; a mortgage broker will match you with the lender that has the product you most need, and will get you the best rate possible, which of course, has many variables...how strong is your application, how good is your credit, etc.etc.etc.

Something controversial or provocative about this subject

Some mortgage brokers charge an additional fee on top of the fee they are paid by the bank; is this the right thing to do? Don't be afraid to ask your broker some questions: how long have they been a broker, do they charge a fee, what banks do they have a contract with (not all brokers can deal with all banks). Buying a home is a huge decision - make it an informed one. Brokers work for YOU.

Hello Kathy. A mortgage can be in a company name. The credit will be authorized, however, based on the strength of the covenantor(s), who would be directors of the company. I'm assuming that by "Foreigner"
