Expert Profile: Geoff Wickens

Expertise:  I have a fairly vast knowledge of the history of The City of Vancouver, BC. All my knowledge has been learned through on-hands experience. I am apt to answer most any question in regards to the history of the city, the construction of its bridges and the history behind some of its buildings.

Experience in the area
I drove cab for 5 years and in that time gave numerous city tours with full historical backgrounds. I have a thirst for history and an appetite for knowledge.

What do you still hope to achieve/learn in this field?  Any good teacher/mentor always learns from his students. I hope to be challenged by the questions and in turn increase my knowledge regarding this subject.
What do you like about this subject?  I am an avid history and trivia buff. Having lived in and around Vancouver for some 40 years, I find the history of the city intriquing.
Something interesting about this subject that others may not know:  Did you know that the Lion's Gate Bridge was built mainly for 1 purpose..... to sell property in what is now known as The British Properties. If you want to know the year and the family who financed the bridge to begin with, feel free to ask!!
