It does just pull out, there are some tabs INSIDE the radiator, you have to pull it out at a sharp angle to get these tabs clear. they can be fairly reluctant to move. - its hard to describe..      NOTE:

Personally - I'd get an fm transmitter and plug an mp3 player into it if the radio has fm (slightly unlikely in 79). I do believe an 8track adapter cassette is available, you could plug in a walkman/mp3

yes, don't open the two halfs, this forms the pressure vessel -   If it's leaking it can certainly be opened to replace the gasket but it needs to be skimmed like a cylinder head and fairly precisely torqued

pull apart the caliper, wire brush and grease all parts that move aginst each other, dab of copper grease afterwards on all moving parts (apart from friction linings) all should be well.
