What do you like about this subject?  The greatest reward is seeing patients who have taken control of asthma, and are back letting me know that they are now able to partake in activities they never thought possible.
What do you still hope to achieve/learn in this field?  Through my ongoing work with Suburban Asthma Consortium, the American College of Chest Physicians, and the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, I hope to increase the knowledge of primary care practitioners to improve the outcomes of their patients.
Something interesting about this subject that others may not know:  The risk of having a fatal asthma attack is the same regardless of the severity of the disease. ALWAYS carry our rescue inhaler!
Something controversial or provocative about this subject  Patients and caregivers need to understand that the inhalation steroids used to control asthma are NOT the same family of steroids abused by athletes, and are actually the gold standard of care for persistent asthma.
