Expertise: I'm a writer and journalist. I'm also an info-junkie, so there is very little I can't find out. I grew up in a bookshop and newspaper-owning family, so its in my genes.

I've been a journalist/editor for over 30 years. I'm also a pretty good photographer. What do you still hope to achieve/learn in this field? I learn every day. That is what is so exciting about living in a developing country with eleven official languages like South Africa. Every day is full of surprises, challenges and growth.

What do you like about this subject? What's there not to like? Like most Africans I get a bit despondent that my continent is usually only featured in the world media for wars, horror, disease and poverty. These are the challenges, not the essence - the soul - the reality of Africa.
